Product Stewardship

As a member of the American Chemistry Council (formerly the Chemical Manufacturers Association), the Eco Services Enterprise of Rhodia Inc. supports ACC’s Responsible Care Initiative. One of the principles of the Responsible Care Initiative is Product Stewardship. The Product Stewardship Code involves a review of our products from the raw material stage, through the production process, through the transportation and distribution process, and to the final customer use to assure that our products are being handled safely and properly. The purpose of this review is to protect our employees, transportation and distribution personnel, customers’ employees and the community at large.

Eco Services’ management is committed to this Product Stewardship effort. An Enterprise Product Stewardship Coordinator has been designated and each plant has had a Product Stewardship Plant Coordinator appointed. Our efforts have already resulted in the development of new product safety handling videos, new product brochures, updated product MSDS’s, and new technical bulletins, all of which are available to our employees, our customers, and the personnel involved in the transportation and distribution of our products. Training materials have been developed and are being shared with our customers and our transporters.

Work continues on improving the tools that we use to ensure our customers have the proper facilities and training to safely handle our products. Customer acceptance criteria and customer inspection requirements have been established. All new customers will have product specific safe handling audits conducted to determine their capabilities for safely handling our products prior to the first shipment. Existing customers will be audited as appropriate to ensure adequate facilities and safe handling practices are maintained and to permit the communication of improvements developed as our knowledge of safe handling practices expands.
