1885 Stauffer Chemical is founded by John Stauffer in San Francisco. Sulfuric acid is a key product
1906 Earthquake destroys most company assets
1916 Houston plant founded as the Texas Chemical Co.
1926 Baton Rouge  founded as Louisiana Chemical Co.
1928 Dominguez,CA founded as Dominguez Chemical Co.
1929 Hammond, IN plant founded
1943 Stauffer pioneers new technology for regenerating sulfuric acid from previously unusable spent acid sludge's. Numerous units on line at all locations by the late 1950’s
1967 Stauffer built the world’s largest sulfuric acid plant (at the time) at the Houston Plant
1969 New Regen plants built at Baton Rouge, LA and Martinez, CA
1987 Rhone-Poulenc acquires Stauffer Chemical
1987 First RCRA part B incineration permit granted for Houston, enabling us to burn hazardous wastes in our Regen Plants
1990 New Regeneration Unit built at Dominguez, CA
1998 Rhodia formed from Rhone-Poulenc Chemicals group
